Set fitness goals

Getting in shape is hard work, so don't be too hard on yourself if you feel that reaching your exercise and fitness goals is more like climbing Mount Everest. If you feel like you're not making any progress, try keeping a diary of achievement markers and how you feel. This will help you see your progress!

There are ways to make this process run more smoothly. For example, setting goals should be a big part of the exercise program you design for yourself. Start small, be realistic, and be specific about what you what to accomplish. Goals need to be realistic, though. For some people, setting goals and achieving them are exactly what motivates them for the long run. But if that's not the case for you, be sure to build in small incentives and rewards for reaching your goals.

One of your exercise and fitness goals should be to reach a point where healthy living becomes a seamless part of your daily routine. When you are able to make permanent lifestyle changes for the better, all the hard work will have paid off!
